ಬಳ್ಳಾರಿ : ಕುವೆಂಪು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯವು ಪೊಲೀಸ್ ಮಹಾನಿರ್ದೇಶಕ ಹರ್ಷ ಪಿ.ಎಸ್ ಅವರಿಗೆ ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ವಹಣಾ ವಿಭಾಗದಲ್ಲಿನ ಸಂಶೋಧನೆಗಾಗಿ ಡಾಕ್ಟರ್ ಆಫ್ ಫಿಲಾಸಫಿ (ಪಿಎಚ್ಡಿ) ಪದವಿಯನ್ನು ಘೋಷಿಸಿದ್ದು, ಮೇ. 06 ರಂದು ಪಿ.ಹೆಚ್.ಡಿ. ಪ್ರದಾನ ಮಾಡಲಿದೆ.
ಕುವೆಂಪು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯದ ವನ್ಯಜೀವಿ ಮತ್ತು ನಿರ್ವಹಣಾ ವಿಭಾಗದ ಪ್ರಾಧ್ಯಾಪಕ ಡಾ. ವಿಜಯ ಕುಮಾರ್ ಅವರ ಮಾರ್ಗದರ್ಶನದಲ್ಲಿ ಹರ್ಷ ಪಿ.ಎಸ್ ಅವರು ಐದು ವರ್ಷಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರ ಆಧಾರಿತ ಅಧ್ಯಯನವನ್ನು ನಡೆಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ. "ನಾಗರಹೊಳೆ, ಬಂಡೀಪುರ ಮತ್ತು ಬಿಆರ್ಟಿ ಹುಲಿ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿತ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಹುಲಿಗಳ ಜನಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯ ಸ್ಥಿರತೆಯ ಕುರಿತು ಒಂದು ಅಧ್ಯಯನ, ಮಾನವ-ಹುಲಿ ಸಂಘರ್ಷಕ್ಕೆ ವಿಶೇಷ ಉಲ್ಲೇಖದೊಂದಿಗೆ" ಎಂಬ ಶೀರ್ಷಿಕೆಯ ಅವರ ಡಾಕ್ಟರೇಟ್ ಪ್ರಬಂಧವು ಈ ಸಂರಕ್ಷಿತ ಪ್ರದೇಶಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ದೊಡ್ಡ ಪ್ರಮಾಣದ ಕ್ಯಾಮೆರಾ ಟ್ರ್ಯಾಪಿಂಗ್ ಮತ್ತು ವಿವರವಾದ ಸಂಘರ್ಷ ತಾಣಗಳ ವಿಶ್ಲೇಷಣೆ ಸೇರಿದಂತೆ ತೀವ್ರವಾದ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರಕಾರ್ಯವನ್ನು ಆಧರಿಸಿದೆ.
ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯದ ಸಿಂಡಿಕೇಟ್ ಔಪಚಾರಿಕವಾಗಿ ಅನುಮೋದಿಸಿ ಪದವಿ ನೀಡಿದೆ. ಮೇ 6, 2026 ರಂದು ನಡೆಯಲಿರುವ ಕುವೆಂಪು ವಿಶ್ವವಿದ್ಯಾನಿಲಯದ ಘಟಿಕೋತ್ಸವ ಸಮಾರಂಭದಲ್ಲಿ ಪಿಎಚ್ಡಿ ಪ್ರಮಾಣಪತ್ರ ನೀಡಲಾಗುವುದು.
Kuvempu University Confers Ph.D. on IGP Harsha P.S.
Ballari: Kuvempu University has conferred the Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree on Inspector General of Police Harsha P.S. for his research in the Department of Wildlife and Management.
Harsha P.S. carried out an extensive five-year field-based study under the guidance of Dr. Vijaya Kumar, Professor in the Department of Wildlife and Management, Kuvempu University. His doctoral thesis, titled “A Study on Stability of Tiger Population in Nagarahole, Bandipur, and BRT Tiger Reserves with Special Reference to Human–Tiger Conflict,” is based on intensive fieldwork, including large-scale camera trapping and detailed conflict hotspot analysis across these protected areas.
The University Syndicate has formally approved and conferred the degree. The Ph.D. certificate will be awarded during the convocation ceremony of Kuvempu University scheduled to be held on May 6, 2026.
